Schiller Del Grande Restaurant Group opened the first Cafe Express in 1984 on South Post Oak Lane in Houston. Robert Del Grande’s menu of traditional American favorites—many with a unique gourmet twist—attracts a wide audience. The breezy, urban atmosphere draws an upscale clientele at lunch, at night and on the weekends with an average ticket of $10 per person for over 700 customers per day.

In 1995, the publication Nations Restaurant News gave Cafe Express national attention by honoring them with one of the first “Hot Concept” awards.
